Meet April Jackson

30 Years Sewing in Alterations and Repairs
Specialized Skills for Bridal/Formal Wear

          At 20 years old, April liked to sew, but wasn't sure that she could make it into a career. How could she learn all of the skills needed to be a professional? Would there be enough work to make a living?

         It was suggested to April that she speak to a tailor about the possibility of apprecenticing to learn the trade. She was successful in finding an apprenticeship, which led to many years of extensive training including:

   - 1 year apprenticeship;
  - 2 years in a custom dress shop;
  - 9 years in a draperies business;
  - 4 years at an alternations shop;
  - 1 year at a bridal shop; and
  - 15 years of self employment.

          After such extensive training, April has the knowledge and expertise to teach anyone the skills to also make a living as a Alternations Specialist!

          April lives in London, Ontario with her husband and two children. She purchased her first alteration sewing shop when she was 21 years of age and has been in the field in some way ever since.
